Jungfrau Railways is investing 63 million Swiss francs in the complete renovation of the Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railroad in the Bernese Oberland. The route was completely renovated over a period of around four years. The trains also meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. The ride comfort on the new trains is also better and they offer more space for passengers.
The Stadler rolling stock accounts for around a third of the total costs. EMIL EGGER took over large parts of the transportation, thus enabling the new trains to operate from June.
The two-part trains were transported from Thurgau to the Bernese Oberland using special low-loaders and reloaded onto the special transporter using two ETE crane vehicles in Lauterbrunnen. At Winteregg, the previously delivered bogies were first set up and then the 17-ton car bodies were lifted into place with the cranes. An all-round successful mission in front of the best photo backdrop.
