A powerful 650-tonne pneumatic crane was used for the removal, which lifted the approximately 35-tonne bridge out of its anchorage in a controlled manner. The work was carried out directly above the River Aare and placed high demands on precision and process coordination.
A 230 t pneumatic crane then took over the further work on site. The jetty was professionally dismantled into three parts to enable its removal and subsequent repair.
The individual elements are now being refurbished in a specialized plant and given a new corrosion protection coating. At the same time, renovation work is being carried out on site on the supports as well as the renewal and rearrangement of the service lines underneath the bridge.
The bridge is scheduled to be reassembled in September 2026. During the construction period, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be diverted via the Felsenau Bridge, which is around 750 meters upstream.
This project underlines EMIL EGGER’s expertise in the implementation of demanding crane and heavy-duty logistics operations – efficiently, precisely and reliably.
