CELLSIUS Aero is working on a zero-emission aircraft propulsion system based on hydrogen. In this system, hydrogen and oxygen are converted into electrical energy, which in turn powers an electric motor. With the H2-Sling, the team aims to demonstrate how sustainable flight could work in the future.
Behind the project is a dedicated team from the ETH Zurich community. The H2-Sling is considered one of the world’s first student-built hydrogen-powered aircraft and is currently on its way to an important milestone: preparations for the so-called First Flight Campaign in Payerne.
To ensure that the aircraft arrived safely at its destination, it was not flown but transported by road. Before an aircraft can fly on its own, a development project of this kind requires extensive testing, preparations, and approvals.
EMIL EGGER used two vehicles for the transport: A flatbed truck carried the fuselage, while the wings were transported separately to Payerne by truck.
This project demonstrates how important careful planning, experience, and precise execution are for specialized transport—especially when it comes to sensitive and innovative cargo. EMIL EGGER is pleased to be able to contribute to this forward-looking project with its own transportation expertise.
