During a 75-hour complete closure of the SBB Jura South Foot Line, a new railway underpass was slid into place at Niederbipp. The structure, weighing around 1,200 tonnes, was first constructed alongside the existing line and then precisely moved to its final location within a tightly scheduled time window.
The insertion was part of a comprehensive infrastructure project undertaken by Aare Seeland mobil AG. In addition to the construction of the new SBB crossing, the project includes, amongst other things, the complete renewal of the track alignment, the optimisation of the track geometry, the renewal of technical installations, and the construction of the new, modern and barrier-free Niederbipp Dorf station.
For EMIL EGGER, the focus of this project was on ensuring reliable execution under challenging conditions. For projects of this scale, precise planning, high-performance specialist equipment and well-coordinated processes are crucial. Our team supported the relocation of the heavy structure with expertise, experience and specialist equipment in the field of lifting and relocation technology.
