Up to 30–40 lorry lads are required to deliver all the components – including crawler tracks, the slewing platform, boom sections, counterweights and accessories.
Individual parts weigh up to around 60 tonnes.
The actual assembly then begins on site:
- Assembly of the crawler tracks and slewing platform
- Assembly of the counterweights and derrick system
- Installation of the winches and drive units
- Step-by-step erection of the main boom
- Safety checks and fine-tuning
Depending on the configuration, the complete erection takes around 3 to 5 days – and requires a well-coordinated team and precise planning.
Only then is the crane ready for its actual task:
Moving heavy loads weighing several hundred tonnes with millimetre precision. Large cranes take centre stage on the construction site – yet even their assembly is a logistical heavyweight.
