42 m high observation tower was completed in three strokes

Crane spectacle in the Hardwald in Kloten

The wood used for the construction of the tower comes directly from the hardwood forest. Approximately 310 cubic meters of wood were processed. The whole tower weighs a total of 190 tons. The challenge of stacking the weighty and large prefabricated elements of 42 tons each on top of each other was solved by means of crane work by EMIL EGGER AG. The modules were mounted on top of each other in three lifts up to a height of 42 m by means of a 450-tonne pneumatic crane.

The Hardwald forest in Kloten is an important recreational area for the surrounding communities. A lookout tower will encourage recreationists to take longer walks and excursions in the vicinity.

The project “Point de vue” by the architects of luna productions won the project competition.

The Frischknecht Holzbau team from Kloten was commissioned to implement the project.

Once again best teamwork and the result not only offers a great view, but can also be seen itself!

The Hawker Hunter aeroplane is safely back at the Hunter association Obersimmental
Until a few years ago, the former Hunter fighter aircraft of the Swiss Air Force were among the highlights at airshows in Switzerland. So was the Papyrus Hunter. The jet has been looked after and maintained by the Hunter association Obersimmental for many years. Unfortunately, the increasingly strict regulations became its downfall. In autumn 2023, the Papyrus was flown over to Altenrhein for its annual inspection. It was no longer allowed to take off from there.
